Ronald Schielke passed from this life on May 19, 2026 ten months after the diagnosis of liver cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 5/6 years, Bronwyn Newell Schielke. Together they raised three daughters: Christine Marie Shipley of Baton Rouge, Cynthia Anne Walsworth of Carrollton, Texas, and Kathryn Elizabeth Walston (Nick) of Cypress, Texas; and have 10 precious grandchildren who call him Opa: Cole Morgan Shipley (Hannah), Corban Mace Shipley, Caden Lee Walston, Campbell Mattie Shipley, Zoe Jewel Walsworth, Corinne Marie Shipley, Elijah James Walsworth, Charis Madeline Shipley, McKenna Elise Walston, and Clyde Miller Shipley, as well as one precocious great-grandson, Beckett John Paul Shipley.
Ron (Ronnie to some) was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1945 to Walter & Christine Schielke. At 13, he moved to Houston when his dad was transferred with U.S. Steel (American Bridge division). He and Bronwyn were high school school sweethearts in Spring Branch before he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania after his junior year. He graduated from North Allegheny High School in 1963 and then headed back to Texas to attend UT Austin. After marrying Bronwyn in 1966, he graduated from University of Houston in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration (Finance) and worked for 34 years for Pullman Kellogg (now KBR) as a procurement manager. He was involved with the credit union, fishing club and many a golf tournament through his work. The Ron Schielke family even had a brief stint in West Germany during his time with M.W. Kellogg. The year they spent in Dusseldorf was full of adventure, sightseeing and fond memories. His retirement years were full of more travel, fishing and golfing, as well as time with his growing family. His tastes were diverse – he loved cruising on Regent, McDonald's senior coffee and cheering on his favorite Houston-based sports teams. Tall, handsome and athletic, Ron played many a golf course and then settled for putting for points on his beloved cruises. He also loved watching his local grandkids' sporting events, drinking a cold beer and Jack Daniels (not together), and fishing the ponds at the Walston Ranch.
Ron is survived by his immediate family as well as his brother, Paul Hunter Schielke of Covington, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Dana Newell of Cypress; best friend, Lucky Miller; cousin, Jackie Wittschen (Barry); nephew, Ron Van Amburgh Jr. (Denise); niece, Sara Van Amburgh; and niece Susan Nichols (Rob) and their children.
