A native Houstonian, Ronnie was born at St. Joseph Hospital and was the eldest of six siblings. He was raised in Bethany United Methodist Church and attended Lamar High School before graduating as part of the first class of Bellaire High School. He began his college journey at Southwestern University, where he joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, later transferring to the University of Texas at Austin, earning a BBA in Marketing. During his time at UT, he also served in the U.S. Army Reserve, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant and called to duty in military intelligence. He later pursued an MBA at the University of Southern California.
Ronnie dedicated his professional life to the food industry, beginning at HEB and continuing with companies including Green Giant, James Brokerage, Gordon Company, Hoody Corporation, Harvest Manor Farms, and Ralcorp. He also served as President of the Houston Food Brokers Association.
Known for his deep patriotism and passion for American history, Native American culture, and family circus memorabilia. Ronnie had a love for cross-country road trips, happy hours with friends, and family gatherings. He was a devoted supporter from the sidelines at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities. With his unmistakable wit and candid opinions—offered freely whether requested or not—Ronnie brought boldness and humor to every conversation. He will be remembered for his love of Butterfingers and beer, Whataburger, Blue Bell Tin Roof ice cream, a hearty meal, and his detailed, colorful storytelling.
