Roosevelt Long Jr. was born August 27, 1997, in Houston, Texas to Cynthia Garduño Long and Rosevelt Long Sr.
Roosevelt’s life would seem short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His big smile and joy brought so much joy to our family.
Roosevelt could accomplish anything he set his mind to do. From an early age, Roosevelt always admired his parents hard work and dedication they put in to provide for their family.
Roosevelt’s parents moved to the Northside of Houston, where Roosevelt would spend his childhood, grow up, make lifelong friends, and go to school. Roosevelt loved school. He made sure he was never late and made good grades. He also played football, which he loved so much. He then graduated from Jefferson Davis High School and had the ambition to go straight to work. He wanted to become a head maintenance man and follow in his father’s footsteps. He did just that.
Roosevelt will then meet his fiancé Wendy Rivera and they would both share their son Roosevelt Long lll. He never missed a moment to show his baby how much he loved him. He finally then was living his dream of providing for his own family and creating memories in which they will have to cherish forever.
Roosevelt Long Jr. is survived by his son Roosevelt Long lll, his fiancé Wendy Rivera, his parents Cynthia Garduño Long, Rosevelt Long Sr., his three sisters Mariah Long, Shannon Johnson, Alma Long, his two brothers Akee Sowell, Bobby Pipkins, a host of nephews, one niece (his mammas), aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his grandmothers Frances Garduño, Alma Long, his grandfathers Pablo Garduño, Otis Long, Uncle Edward Long, and brothers Roy, Vicente, Troy, and Rudy.
