Helen was called to Heaven on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the age of 68, after a long and courageous 3-year battle with Ovarian Cancer. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas to Felix Patxot and Rosa Lee Lopez. She was raised in Port Arthur but also lived in Galveston, finally making her home in Houston, Texas. Helen is survived by her loving partner of 29 years, Lola Castillo. Additionally, she is survived by siblings Felix Patxot, Jr. and wife Shirley, Michael Patxot and wife Liz, Richard Adrian Patxot ('Ricky'), Carlos Patxot, Yolanda Patxot Jimenez and husband Paul, Joseph Patxot and wife Gloria, and Leonardo ('Lenny') Rodriguez and wife Samantha, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

One of her favorite pastimes was traveling to the Mexican Caribbean, spending hours in the beautiful turquoise waters of the Yucatan Peninsula as well as in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Helen adored her family, loved cooking, relished in a great bargain, enjoyed telling funny stories, and watching 'Ancient Aliens' and 'Naked and Afraid'.

She believed in worthy causes and donated generously. She was quick to lend a hand to those in time of need. She also proved to be a wonderful caregiver, selflessly assisting Lola in the caring of her elderly parents for the past 20 years. She was loved and cared for deeply by the Castillo family and all those she befriended. She was a special and extraordinary soul and will be profoundly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Helen will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Funeraria del Angel Crespo located at 2516 Navigation Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77003. A reception will take place following the service at 4:30 p.m where food will be served and Helen's favorite music will be played as this will be a celebration of her life. Feel free to share any anecdotes/stories and pictures of or with Helen.

My Dear Honey,
Just a few days ago, you left my life so empty and alone. I can't believe you're gone especially after the doctor had such positive things to say right after you got out of surgery. I don't understand what happened to you but I will find out why you had to leave us. Some things just don't make sense to me.

To say I miss you is an understatement. I can't sleep at night unless I cry myself to sleep. I think about all the precious memories we created over the years on Weslayan Oaks, at the API, in Galveston, at the condo in Cancun, Los Cabos, Punta Cana, etc.. and I shall forever cherish them. I thank you for loving and respecting me unconditionally and as you know, I too loved you unconditionally with all my heart and soul. You were so smart. so resourceful, so conserving, so pragmatic, and so practical that I learned alot from you and I thank you. You learned politics from me and I learned alot of life's lessons from you. Always to the LEFT, as we used to say. Take care of yourself, honey and give my love to Rosie, your daddy, Vicky, my Welito, Arthur, and all the loved ones you will see again. Until that day when we will be reunited again, I shall forever remain your loyal and loving partner in life. Te Quiero Mucho Para Siempre!

Tia Helen aka Sheneneh,
I'm so glad you were part of our family! You were the kindest soul, the most giving person. I was blessed to have had you as my Tia! Grateful for the time spent with you throughout the years. Trips to the Caribbean were one of the many highlights! Notably, our "Girl's Trip" with Nanny, my Mama (Cecilia) Tia Lola, you and I. You drove us all around in the rental car as we jammed to Luis Miguel, with the wind blowing through our hair. Fun in the sun, on the beach and especially in the turquoise blue water you loved so much! We had the time of our lives! I also loved just hanging out at home, with you and Tia Lola, enjoying one of your delicious meals like Carne Guisada, your yummy po-boys (you said it had to be with Royal Bakery bread, it was the best! Sometimes toasted with "Butter-quilla" LOL! ) No one came close to your salsa and your frijolitos! Can't forget your cake-itos for the sweet tooth! I admired your work ethic and your generosity. I loved our chats over the phone - even the quick ones where you'd call to check to see if I was watching the latest episode of Ancient Aliens! Georgio, says, "What if...? (I know you'll understand!) Our family will never forget the loving care and assistance you provided with Tia Lola for Nanny and Welo ...priceless! THANK YOU! I admired the love you had for my Tia Lola, selflessly caring more about her than yourself. You made such a great match! You were taken from us far too soon. But God only takes the best! I know you're telling one of your great stories up in heaven! We always enjoyed and had great belly laughs with your funny anecdotes! I'll miss you, we all will, until we meet again. Please watch over us. In the interim, I'll do my best to take care of Tia Lola. I LOVE YOU, Sheneneh!

Helen's salsa was the best! She was an excellent money manager. She gave good advice on saving and investing funds. Helen was a selfless person, always concerned about Lola's health and others before herself. She died with her family members surrounding her with much love and compassion. Helen, you will be greatly missed!
