

Rosalie D. "Ro" Kowalski, Rosalie Muras Kowalski, known to friends and loved ones as "Ro", passed away on April 19, 2011. She was born in Shiner, TX on September 4, 1926 to Joseph & Philomena "Minnie" Muras.
Ro graduated from St. Ludmila's Academy in Shiner, TX in 1943. She attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, earning her BS Degree in Home Economics in 1947. Later that year, she moved to Houston, took a three month training course at Cravens, Dargan & Company, which began her insurance career in Houston that lasted 41 years. Ro started working for the Agency of Kinney, Hampton & Hold in January 1948; eventually it changed to Kinney & Hampton and later to Harry A. Kinney who sold the agency to The Gem Agency in 1961. Ro was with that agency until March of 1968 when she went to work for Jack G. Wagner & Company. In September 1985 that agency was purchased by William H. Ratz & Associates. She remained with them until her retirement on April 1, 1989 to help her sister, Dorothy take care of their brother, J.J.
Ro was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church since April 1957, and was a member of the choir the entire time.
Ro was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, J.J.; her husband, August J. Kowalski (A.J.), who passed away on May 21, 1984. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Muras of Shiner, TX and Ann O'Donnell of Lowell, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 until 7 PM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, with a Vigil to follow at 7 PM in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc, Houston, TX 77024, with the Most Rev., Bishop Vincent M. Rizzotto, Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
