Rosalind Bell Anderson was born on September 13, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Edgar and Frances Bell. Rosalind was led to Christ by the teaching at home of her mother, Frances Bell who is more affectionately known as Granny B. At the age of 14, she was baptized at Moreh Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Raymond Hunt, Sr. A native Houstonian, Rosalind attended public school in the North Forest Independent School District where she graduated from Forest Brook High School in 1974. While attending Forest Brook, Rosalind was a member of the drill team. After graduating high school, Rosalind went into the workplace to earn a living working at Houston Lighting and Power, where she worked for 12 years.
On February 14, 1986, Rosalind married Timothy Ray Anderson in Houston, Texas and together they raised four children: Derek, Delvin, Shanyse and Jaleesa. Rosalind loved her children dearly but her 4 grandchildren were her pride and joy: Gabriel, Jasmine, Josiah & Jordan.
Rosalind was blessed with the ability to leave the workplace and devote her time, talent, and attention to her family whom she loved dearly. A devoted wife of 35 years, Rosalind will be fondly remembered as a loving mother to her 4 children whom she loved the same without any favoritism or loving one more than the other. Within her children, she instilled the importance of God, family, education, hard work and thrift. Rosalind ran her household like a well-oiled machine making sure that her husband had all of his needs met; preparing meals and raising her children with the same structure and respect that she learned from her mother. Rosalind was an excellent cook who perfected her family’s iconic honey bun cake. The sweet taste not only satisfied your taste buds, but it also touched your soul because you could feel the love that she put into it. If you knew Rosalind, you would look forward to the times that you would hear her say “I made a honey bun cake!” Her honey bun cakes were highly anticipated and seldom survived a family gathering. Rosalind had a Christ-like love for her family and talked with her mother EVERY day. Not a day went by without her and Granny B catching up, checking on each other and discussing what happened on their soap operas. They both looked forward to those conversations where they bonded and shared their love for each other.
Rosalind was a virtuous woman of God who lived a Christ-led life. She was a faithful and dedicated member of City of Refuge Church where she joined in 2001 to support the ministry and vision of her sister Eva’s husband, Pastor Brian Galloway. There she served with the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, Pastoral Care Ministry, Missions and Outreach, and with the Hospitality Ministry as an usher. Rosalind had a sincere praise and worship for God. She was a true worshipper and loved to invite others to worship along with her.
Loving, loyal, generous, giving, strong, selfless, supportive, encouraging and faithful Christian would be the best words used to describe Rosalind.
In the year of Our Lord, 2020, on the 31st day of the month of March, Rosalind Bell Anderson transitioned from labor to reward at her home. She is preceded in death by her father Edgar Bell, father-in- law Dr. Robert Anderson, brother Anthony Jefferson and grandparents Rupert and Effie Foster.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, and carry on with her legacy, her loving husband of 35 years Timothy Ray Anderson, 4 children: Derek R. Kizzee, Delvin V. Kizzee and his wife Karen, Shanyse R. Anderson, Jaleesa S. Wilson and her husband Eric, and 1 daughter in love Carrolina Rodriguez, 4 grandchildren: Gabriel Kizzee, Jasmine Kizzee, Josiah Rogers and Jordan Mitchell, mother Frances Bell, mother-in-law Velma Anderson, sister Eva Galloway and her husband Brian, brothers: Edgar Bell, Jerome Bell, Reginald Bell, Manuel Bell, Steven Bell and his wife Stacey, sisters-in-law: Francis Harris, Sandra James, brothers-in-law: Patrick Anderson and his wife Penny, Derrick Anderson and his wife Sonia and a host of nieces, nephews, family, church members and friends.
Rosalind’s sweet, kind and loving spirit will TRULY be missed.
