Rosalinda Valdes

Rosalinda Lopez Valdes of Houston, TX was received into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, shortly after celebrating her 77th birthday surrounded by family at home. She was born in Goose Creek (now Baytown), TX on August 25th, 1946 to Raul and Maria de la Luz Caballero Lopez. She was married to Louis Valdes Sr. on December 8th, 1964 for nearly 60 years and had one daughter and one son.

Rosalinda was a beautician for more than 40 years, going above and beyond to style her clients. She offered home visits for her aging clients when they could no longer travel to the salon. She fondly spoke about how she enjoyed exchanging recipes with her clients, many of whom she considered dear friends. Prior to retirement, she served in the Spring Branch Independent School District as a crossing guard and in nutrition services. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and feeding family and friends. Rosalinda expressed her love through acts of devotion and service, constantly thinking of and caring for others above herself.

She was a mother figure to many and affectionately known as Momo to her granddaughter, Rosie by her siblings and Rosa by her husband.

She is preceded in death by her parents Raul and Maria; brother Raul Jr.; and sisters Norma Emma Valdez and Blanca Estella Lopez.

She is survived by her husband Louis Sr.; children Karen Louise Clark (John-Paul) and Louis Jr. (Rebecca); granddaughter Desireé LaGrappe (Philip Meadors) and step-grandson Eric Martinez (Steffani); sisters Mary Magdalena Gutierrez, Maria Valdez, Anna Fowler, and Sandra Valdez; and brother Hector Lopez. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Rosalinda will be held Friday, September 15th, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek at 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 16th, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek at 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095. A committal service will follow on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) at pancan.org on behalf of Rosalinda Lopez Valdes.
