January 2, 1950 – October 24, 2025
Rose Ann Stokes, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston Tx. Born on January 2, 1950, in Fitzpatrick, Alabama to the late Annie Laura ”Muh” and James Thomas Reynolds, Rose Ann lived a life full of faith, compassion, and grace.
A devoted Christian, Rose Ann built a beautiful relationship with God and faithfully served in the Greater Houston Church alongside her beloved husband, Lorenzo. She was passionate about caring for others, earning her Associate Degree in Nursing in June of 1996 and dedicating many years to her calling as an RN. Of all her professional experiences, her favorite was working in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Memorial Southwest, where she touched countless lives with her skill and kindness.
Rose Ann loved roses and found joy in gardening and baking, often filling her home with the sweet scents of freshly baked treats and blooming flowers. She treasured family gatherings, always bringing warmth, laughter, and love to every occasion. Family was her heart — she is survived by her husband Lorenzo Stokes, her children Eric Townsend, Joseph “Joey” Stewart (Jenene Stewart), Corey Stewart, her late daughter Tonya Townsend, and Latrinda Dowdell (Cornelius Dowdell).
She is also survived by her siblings Larry Reynolds, Shirley Surles, Patricia McGhee, Preceded in death by her beloved sister Debra Palmer, Stephen Reynolds, Beverly Scott (Anthony Scott), Regenia Long, Jacquelyn Jackson, Marcia Reynolds (Calvin Vannoy), Theresa Williams (Robert), and Tamika Mckinnes. Rose Ann was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren — Aerial Walker, Samantha Stewart (Dyshawn Cole), Chanel Gordon (Cyrus), Marsia “Rose” Stewart (Brandon Griffin), Jessica Jones, Janae Jones, Joseph “bobo” Stewart III, Bryson Dowdell, Lauri Dowdell, and Kelvin Dowdell — and great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren — Erin Jones, Jeremiah Harris, Ace Cole, Ryder Harris, Reign Hagan, Harleigh Dowdell, and Rhema Jones who has gone on before her. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
Rose Ann’s kindness, faith, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing she has gained her wings and is resting peacefully in the arms of her Savior. Her legacy of love and service will live on through all those she inspired.
