Roy D. Perry, 75, of Houston, Texas, entered eternal rest on June 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Roy was born to Louzetta and Jessie Perry on November 9, 1949. He was raised in the community, Acres Homes, TX and graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1969 where he enjoyed playing football as a Center, #27. He went on to dedicate over 40 years of his life to Gowen Sheet Metal, where he served with pride and integrity.
A respected leader, Roy held the role of Vice President of Local Union #54 and was a gifted instructor who trained generations of sheet metal workers, instilling in them both skill and character.
Roy’s influence extended far beyond his profession. He served his community faithfully by coaching his friends in Flag football and baseball - always leading with kindness, patience and purpose. Roy enjoyed playing basketball with kids in the neighborhood. He also served as a Deacon for many years at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Acres Homes, Texas, where he was known for his steady presence, quiet wisdom and faithful commitment to God and his church family.
Those who knew Roy remember him as a sincere, helpful and godly man— loving and gentle, with a strength rooted in humility. He loved playing dominos. He also loved cracking pecans from the tree in the backyard, smothering ribs in barbecue sauce on the grill that he built with his own hands (seriously, who else can say they had a handmade grill?), and playfully teasing his loved ones about the size of their foreheads — a running joke that brought laughter and connection to family gatherings.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 56 years, Lois Perry; his daughters, Shundria Riddick and Desrie McCoy (Christopher); and his beloved grandchildren, Zachari Mitchell (Leslie), Joshua Riddick, Elyana Riddick and Noah Riddick.
Roy was preceded in death by; his siblings, Verlee Perry, Lettie Brown, Warsale Perry, Jessie Perry, Robert Perry, Norris Perry, JoAnn Gamble, Johnnie Mae Wade and Deborah Perry. He leaves behind surviving siblings, Mildred Perry and Joseph Perry; and a host of extended family and friends who cherished him deeply.
Roy D. Perry’s legacy of quiet strength, faithful service, joyful humor and unconditional love will live on in the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
