Ruby Faye Alexander, 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2023. She was born on June 18, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to Jack and Evy Mae McCall. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She dedicated her life to taking care of others, both as a nurse and within her own family.
Ruby was happily married to her true love, Royce, for 50 years. They were inseparable and enjoyed playing games like dominoes and Rook with friends. Ruby had a keen eye and would often catch Royce cheating in dominoes, playfully calling him a cheater before they both shared a hearty laugh.
As a mother, Ruby took pride in supporting her son, Troy, in his various sports activities. She would cheer him on from the sidelines and celebrated his accomplishments, particularly when he graduated from college and later became a Major in the Air Force. Ruby also cherished her daughter, Susan, and fondly remembered their trip to Galveston to visit Moody Gardens with their grandchildren. Being a grandmother brought Ruby immense joy, and she loved staying updated on her grandchildren's lives and school activities, despite the distance.
Ruby is survived by her daughter Susan and husband Mike, son Troy and wife Tammy, siblings Charles McCall and Vivian Burke, and her grandchildren Brayden, Brianna, Devin Kuglar, and Zach Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Evy Mae McCall, her husband Royce, her twin sister Bessie, brother-in-law Mel Adams, grandson Jacob, and niece Tina Burke.
Throughout her life, Ruby found solace and community as a lifelong member of Bethel Tabernacle. Her faith provided her with strength and comfort.
When she wasn't caring for others, Ruby enjoyed doting on her husband and spending time fishing. These activities brought her a sense of peace and contentment.
A service and funeral will be held in Ruby's honor at 9am at Brookside Funeral Home & Memorial Park on July 17th, 2023. Ruby will be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication, and caring nature. Her legacy will live on through the memories and lives she touched during her time with us.
