Ruby Nevens Gordwin

Ruby was raised by her late Grandparents, William and Lena Nevills in Waxia, Louisiana.

Ruby received her education at Phyllis Wheatley High School in Melville Louisiana, she accepted Christ at an early age as a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Waxia Louisiana, she later migrated to Houston, TX and became a member of the Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church, she moved on to Fontaine Baptist Church, then to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and later became a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, under the watchful eye of Rev. A. L. Mallett, where she currently held a membership at the time of her expiration.

Ruby was united in Holy Matrimony to James Gordwin, migrated to Houston Texas, and created to beautiful lives together, James Gordwin Jr. and Gwendolyn Michelle Gordwin, whom they held very close to their hearts!

Ruby and James were married a total of 50 Years at the time of his expiration!

Ruby was a very hard worker during the occupational season of her life.

Ruby is uniting in death with her Husband, her Parents and three Brothers: Hatten Johnson Jr., Michael Johnson, and Charles Ray Johnson.

Ruby left a Tribe of Loved Ones to keep her Sweet and Precious Memories flowing: One Son, James Gordwin Jr. “June”; One Daughter, Gwendolyn Michelle Gordwin Hunt “Chelle” (Cedric Hunt); Two God Sons, Michael Prudhomme and Damion Gordwin; Eight Grand Children, James (Amanda), Dayvon, Candys, Reynaldo, Cameron, Jabari, Cisco and Shaniyah, and A Bonus Grandaughter, Clesha; Six Great Grand Children, Chareya, Dayvon Jr., Neveeh, Rhian, D’Yonna, Yaliyah and Ralah; Three Sisters, Hilda Jones, Betty Johnson, and Barbara Ann Johnson; Three Brothers, Abraham Johnson, Emery Johnson (Emelita Johnson) and Donald Johnson (JoAnn Johnson); Five Special Nieces who she loved dearly, and were more like daughters to her, The Prudhomme Girls, Patricia, Brenda, Daphne & LaShanda and Benita Brown; Her Loving and Caring Nurse, who was also like a daughter, Kai, and a Host of Nieces and Nephews, along with other relatives and friends that Loved her dearly!
