

Ruby Lee was born November 14, 1937 to the late Delia and Joseph Dawson in Chopin, Louisiana, Natchitoches Parish. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Ruth Lee Dawson Clay and husband Lincoln Vital, Jr.
She leaves to morn three sisters, one brother, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Ruby was baptized by Rev. Anthony Jenkins, Sr. at an early age at the St. Simon Baptist Church and was a member of the Choir. She attended the public schools of Natchitoches Parish, graduating from St. Matthew High School. She continued her education and received her Cosmetology License August 1991. Later Ruby attended Prairie View A and University where she met and subsequently married Lincoln Vital. In 1961, Ruby joined the Greater True Vine Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Hugh Polk and joined the Mission Society. She also joined the Fifth Ward Ladies and the GMWA Houston Chapter where members traveled all over the Unites States attending various gospel music workshops.
Ruby enjoyed traveling, meeting new people and making friends. She was also very generous with her time and resources. She took many cruises which carried her to numerous countries around the world. She also traveled Australia, China, Egypt; France (Paris); India; Italy; South Africa, and Jerusalem (Holy Land).
Ruby had a particular interest in cancer (causes, prevention, treatment and services to patients). So she secured a position at the M.D. Anderson Hospital, Houston retiring on May 31st 1998 after a 25 year career.
A visitation for Ruby will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater True Vine, 3010 Fontinot, Houston, TX 77026, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
