Rudolph Rivera

March 17, 1949March 31, 2019

Rudolph Rivera was peacefully called home to our Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 70. Known by many as Rudy, and “The Kid”, he was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He can be described as loving to all and respected within his community & church. For 35 years, he worked as an auto mechanic at Sears before retiring, only to continue his passion and start his own business in 1984 Rivera’s Automotive. Being a mechanic became his hobby where he continued to work on vehicles from home. He opened a club named The Tiger club in the 80’s. Some of his favorite things were, spending time with family, playing poker where almost everything was a wild card, going to the casino, deer hunting, collecting antiques, going to pawn shops and garage sales. He owned a 1977 Monte Carlo that was his pride and joy. He was a dedicated fan of the Houston Texans and Houston Astros. His favorite Texan player was JJ Watt and Astro’s player Alex Bregman. He was a handyman, creative when it came to projects. He loved telling jokes. He was a sharp dresser, down to his Stacy Adams shoes, starched Levi jeans and his hair that had to be combed to perfection. He loved taking road trips and having family gatherings at the house. Some of his favorite foods, hamburgers, ground beef tacos, and meat loaf. He took pride in the appearance of his yard and the cleanness of his vehicles. His favorite holiday was Christmas, he would go over and beyond on the decorating. He would tell Vanesa, he was doing it for the grandchildren. He enjoyed watching shows such as Pawn Stars, hunting, fishing and western, action movies. His favorite arcade game was the claw machine that he enjoyed very much and was so determined to win something every time. He liked to be outside working around the house, with the music blaring, he always kept himself busy. His favorite music artist was Elvis, Selena and he liked to listen to Tejano and oldies music. Rudy, was a unique, giving, caring individual and he touched the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Guadalupe Rivera, brothers, Ralph and Gilbert, and sister, Diana.

He is survived by his wife & best friend of 20 years, Vanesa, his children, daughters Lisa & Rolando, Monica & Anthony, Erica & Vincent, Beatrice & Jacob, Valeria & Belin, sons Rudy Jr. & Carolina, Jose & Letchia, , 21 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, siblings, Michael, Paul, Mary and Rose. Rudy will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends.

Rudy was a strong, yet kind man. We are all thankful and blessed to have known him, but know that he is rejoicing in heaven with his loved ones.

Vanesa Rivera and family would like to express sincere thanks to Life Stream Church & Everyone for their continuous prayers.

A special thanks to Ruben & Noemi Turrubiartes and all our friends for your prayers and support.

My condolence to Vanessa and family. My husband Lupe and I were so blessed to get to know Rudy. Rudy and my husband hit it off well and I thank our Lord for that which was a true blessing. My husband and I enjoyed the company of Rudy and Vanessa, He will be truly missed but never forgotten. Vanessa we are so sorry for your lost and know how much Rudy meant to you. I will always remember on your 60th birthday when Rudy told Lupe and I that he really don't like to dance. But, he is going to request his special song dedicated to you, hold you in his arm and dance with the women he loves and means so much to him his soul mate. I will always remember that day and how you and Rudy were dancing while everyone watch. A very special moment. Love you my dear friend and here to help you if I can. GKBY and your family. Love you sister, your friend Victoria (Vicky) Ann Sanchez Rios.

Our deepest condolences to the Rivera family.
I knew Rudy for many years,he was a amazing man always had a positive
attitude, and a can do will.
If anyone was in a bind or had any kind of problem,Rudy was the person to call. It did not matter what time or how or how bad the situation was he was
always there to help. He had a very calming effect, and you knew that everything was going to be OK.
Thank you Rudy for keeping my old classic car running .
there where times when i would feel like getting rid of it,but you would fire me up again having a positive outlook, and making the car run great.
Thank you for being there for me and my family. going to miss you.

I remembered on this day, we talked about how we needed a updated picture of us four, the last one we took was our first communion. Here we took the updated picture but never thought it would be the last.... Until we meet again, rest easy Rudy.

My heart is heavy that I have lost one of the finest men in my life. Many, many people were touched by him and his generous, giant heart. If you were lucky enough to meet him, then you too know what a great loss this is to our family. He was a father to so many of us.. the very best Uncle, grandfather, cousin, brother, friend, great grandfather, Godfather, compadre, and husband that you could ever ask for. This man, our patriarch, is truly a well respected legend that is already and will be missed dearly. My heart goes out to his wife, Vanessa and his children and ask that they be lifted up in your prayers! ❣️

Remembering when we work together taking care of our business needs for Delta Airlines. I often think of those times when Jim would say Rudy is very conscientious about our needs and he does a great job! Thanks for making me shine before my corporate Leaders.
I also want to thank you for being my cousin Vanessa's wonderful help mate and a loving husband. You will greatly be missed!! Thank you for helping me out, and impressing me with your impeccable character.
Praying for your children and family that our Lord Jesus will fill the void you have left, may they know you are now resting with our Lord Jesus.
