Born in Houston, Texas, on October 25, 1963, to Larry and Patsy Thompson, Russell graduated from Livingston High School class of 1982. He later met the love of his life, Sandy, in Pasadena, Texas, and the two were married on August 6, 1999.
Russell was currently employed with Granite Construction and had previously retired from Shell Refinery after 20 years of dedicated service. He was a proud member of the League City Masonic Lodge and a faithful member of Hardin Baptist Church in Hardin, Texas, where he loved worshipping the Lord and fellowshipping with his church family.
Russell had a passion for hunting, fishing, woodworking, and grilling for a crowd. Known for always having a smile on his face, he never met a stranger. His great sense of humor and easygoing nature made everyone feel welcome. Russell was always ready to lend a helping hand, he was truly a giver, always willing to share the shirt off his back or the last dime in his pocket.
Above all, Russell was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Russell is preceded in death by his father, Larry W. Thompson; his grandparents; his mother- and father-in-law; and numerous other family members. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Thompson; his mother, Patsy Thompson; sister, Lea Anne Davis, and her husband, Reggie; daughter, Lakin Fredieu; granddaughters, Rylee and Brynlee Fredieu, Morgan and Sadie Fredieu; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brother Tony Hines and their entire church family for their love, prayers, and support.
Russell’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
