Russo Socorro Hernandez, age 79, of Houston, Texas was born July 9, 1944, in San Benito, Texas to his parents Ausencio and Isidra Rodriguez Hernandez. He passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, at 3:16 a.m., surrounded by his wife and family.
He loved his wife Josefina in a way that one can only admire. Together they set the foundation for a united, loving, and caring family.
He was a kindhearted, hardworking man who committed his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He was always giving and providing everything from a place to call home to a quick warm meal with fresh fruits to visiting family and friends that would fill their hearts to buen consejos for all that could use them.
He loved his wife Josefina very much and was very attentive to her needs. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family so that she could be a stay-at-home mom and spend time raising their children.
He loved his children and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The bible teaches that grandparents leave indelible footprints that our children and grandchildren will follow. These traces will have profound influence on them, which set the foundation for strong family principles and values for generations to come.
King Soloman taught: “Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.” (Proverbs 17:6)
He taught us the importance of hard work and a strong work ethic. He was very active, never sitting idle. He led by example and taught by doing. He had little patience for laziness. He taught his children and grandchildren to do chores around the house together, to help mom/ grandma and to clean up after ourselves. He would often say: it’s best to leave an area cleaner or as clean as you found it.
He was industries from an early age and a self-taught entrepreneur, in the early 1990’s he partnered and co-founded Russo Services with his sons which are currently running it with their siblings.
Russo and his wife Josefina had the opportunity to explore and share many beautiful travel memories together with their children and grandchildren.
He touched the lives of so many and we are blessed to have had the opportunity to enjoy his presence during his time with us.
Dad/ Granpa Russo was truly one of the greats. He gave us the greatest gift in life: His time and His love.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Josefina Valadez Hernandez; children, Cecelia Valadez; Adrian Hernandez; Claudia Gomez Hernandez; Paul Hernandez; and Gerardo Hernandez and wife, Daisy; and a granddaughter whom was raised as a daughter; Priscilla Hernandez; grandchildren, Vanessa Ayala, Oscar Alexander Gomez, Jr., Isabella Gomez, Julio Corona, Claudia de Leal, Norma Nerio, Lizbeth Rivera, Edgar Corona, Nicholas Hernandez, Kelvin Nino, Alejandro Hernandez, Lucas Hernandez, Matias Hernandez, Mayrelis Delgado and Andrew Delgado; great-grandchildren, Aylin Ayala, Natalia Hernandez, Arabella Ayala, Nathaniel Garza, Renato de Leal, Robert de Leal, Jr., Camilla Nerio, Tamara Nerio, Sophia Nerio, Omar Jasso, Liam Jasso and Edwin Riveria; along with sister Esther Salas and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Matias Hernandez and sisters, Pilar Hernandez and Ignacia Vasquez.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 1:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 Broadway, Houston, Texas 77087 with burial following at South Park Cemetery in Pearland at 3:00pm. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00pm until 10:00pm at the funeral home.
