

Ruth Fort Baker, of Houston, formerly of Dallas, went to be with her Lord Sunday, the 4th of January 2015. She was 85.She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. S. Hutcherson. Dr. Hutcherson served as pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Houston, and as the first President of the University of Corpus Christi (now Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi). He also taught Church Finance at Baylor University.
After graduating from Baylor University with a degree in education in 1950, Ruth taught kindergarten at Second Baptist School and River Oaks Baptist School in Houston. She also taught in Garland and Waco, and in Orange County, California.
While on staff at First Baptist Church of Dallas she established the women's ministry. As a member of that church, she also served as a Chapel Choir sponsor. She later worked as an executive assistant at the University of Texas at Dallas. Ruth married David L. Fort in 1950, who passed away in 1975.
In 1984 she married Reverend BO Baker, pastor of Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving. She served in various capacities at Plymouth Park, established the women's ministry, and established and directed the young married division. In later years, she and BO served in international missions in Germany and Argentina. BO passed away in 2010.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristen Ruth Moore of Houston and her husband, Gary; and by her son, David Stephen Fort of Dallas and his wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Joshua Moore, Ashlea Moore Taylor, Zachary Fort, Connor Fort, Jessica Fort, Lynnson Fort, Jake Abel, Jonathon Baker and Stephen Baker; great grandchildren, Baxter and Simon Moore, and Lillian and Pearl Taylor.
In Houston, friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 8th of January 2015, in the parlor of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive.
A visitation and memorial service is to take place in Dallas on the 15th and 16th of January
