

Ruth Helen Rinck Hurst, 86, a longtime resident of Houston, TX since 1973, born in New Orleans, LA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was a loving mother and devoted community activist. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Major Lubin Hurst, her father John Henry Rinck Jr. and her mother Marguerite King Rinck. She is survived by her children; Kenneth Wayne Hurst of New Orleans, LA, Randall Lubin Hurst of Stafford, TX, Sheryl Ann Hurst of Mandeville, LA, Sheila Hurst Bade of Sugar Land, TX and Leila Hurst Coffey of Cornelius, OR; seven grandchildren; Jeffrey Paul Hurst, Gregory Thomas Hurst, Jacqueline Paige Hurst, Benjamin Hurst Coffey, Emma Elizabeth Gillen Coffey, Carly Rae Hurst, and Tayelor Marie Bade and one great grandchild Charlotte Marie Hurst.
After moving to Houston she became a sales representative for a cosmetic firm and received her training in New York, Paris and Spain. After 20 years she retired in 1992 from being a regional sales manager and became heavily involved in community service.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079 with visitation for family and friends an hour prior at 2:00 p.m.
