Sadie was born on the 14th of December 1929, in Houston, Texas to Antonio and Rosalie Montalbano. She was the youngest of five siblings. Sadie attended Incarnate Word Academy and soon after married the love of her life, Anthony John Aquilina, whom she referred to as her “sweet boy”, on the 23rd of February 1949. This month Sadie and Anthony would have been married 75 years. Together, they owned Aquilina Motors and worked together for over 30 years until they retired.
Sadie’s greatest joy and source of pride was being a mother to her five children. She was very blessed to experience and have a loving relationship with her 8 grandchildren and her 12 great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and family meals with her family. Sadie was known for her pork breads, fruit cake cookies and her special spaghetti sauce.
Sadie and Anthony had one of the truest love stories that will forever be remembered by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We can only hope and pray that their kind of love will continue to be passed down throughout the present generations and future generations to come.
Sadie is survived by her loving husband, Anthony; her children, Marion (Mary) Aquilina, Ann (Frank) Rubino, Anthony Aquilina, Rosalie (Sammy) Samperi, and Renee (Doug) Hammond; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Marie Dior and Harbor Hospice for the loving care they provided to our mother and grandmother. The family would also like to thank Deacon Louis Provenzano, Father Houston Okonma from St. Vincent de Paul, as well Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home.
Friends are cordially invited to greet the family during a visitation at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 7th of February, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway in Houston, where the Mass of Christian Burial is to commence at three o’clock, with Fr. Houston Okonma, Parochial Vicar officiating.
The family will gather for a private entombment at Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions, in Sadie’s memory, may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
