

Sadie grew up in Palestine, Texas where she met and married her lifelong love, George, on August 6th, 1948. They raised three daughters in Houston. Sadie graduated as valedictorian from Woodhouse High School before majoring in Chemistry at both The University of Texas and Sam Houston State University. She spent her career in many fields, including as a dental assistant, a church daycare administrator, and in the insurance department of MD Anderson.
George gifted Sadie a replica statue of The Thinker. He knew she never tired of learning and was always reading and teaching herself a wide variety of topics. Sadie also was a devoted Christian and was an active member of Richmond Plaza Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and always brought smiles to the faces of those around her.
She is survived by her daughters Lynn and Nancy; her granddaughters Renae, Michelle, Nicole, and Terra; and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband George and daughter Susan.
Sadie Ruth Phillips, 92, slipped peacefully away to be with the Lord on August 7th, 2021. She was born November 9th, 1928 in Nacogdoches, Texas to L.V. and Rachel Harris.
