Sally was born February 28, 1944, in Pascagoula, Mississippi as the youngest of five children. She enjoyed a beautiful loving relationship with her mother Alma and father E.L. Young until the day they graduated to heaven. Her parents demonstrated the power of prayer which molded Sally into a true prayer warrior. Sally prepared her entire life for the event that occurred during a beautiful Texas sunset on Sunday May 31, 2026. She met Jesus.
She spent most of her adult life in Pascagoula, MS and moved to Houston in 1999 to be near her two sons (Jon and Mike). Within a couple of years after moving to Houston, God blessed Sally with a huge group of church friends and a full calendar of youth sporting events. She enjoyed supporting her grandchildren no matter what event was next in the rotation.
Sally loved Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MCPC) and many of the church family would visit, love and pray for her after she was unable to attend. Those that knew her experienced her love for Jesus, family and our country. She was so excited about the USA 250-year birthday that she purchased her gear July of 2025. She will have her homemade ice cream and watermelon watching fireworks with Jesus.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Buckner Parkway Place for the excellent care and compassion that Sally has received over the past six months. She is survived by her two sons, Jon Farris (Margaret) and Mike Farris (Roxanne); her three grandchildren Adam, Emily and Matthew; sisters Karen Stone and Ann McMahan (Jimmy); along with a large extended family and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Sally to Camp Hope (832-912-4429). Camp Hope provides hope and healing for the unseen wounds of war. God Bless America.
