Samantha Dean Richards

Samantha Dean Richards peacefully transitioned on November 13, 2023, at 12:17pm with loved ones by

her side. On December 27, 1965 a beautiful soul was born in Houston, TX to Flora Peters and Aaron

Lawson. She was the youngest of 3 beautiful daughters. She was a proud graduate of Sam Houston High

School and later continued her education, receiving her bachelor’s in business administration at Le

Tourneau University in 2009. Samantha who was affectionately known as Sam gave her life to Christ at a

young age. She had a successful career with Centerpoint Energy for 35 years in the Surveying

Department and later moved to the Distribution Project Department. She will always be remembered for

her infectious smile that she continued to share even in her pain.

Samantha, married her soulmate Haywood Richards on May 28, 1996 and spent 29 years of life together.

Sam had a special bond with Haywood and they loved to travel and care for their furbaby Dusty who

misses her tremendously. They loved going to the Superdome to see her favorite artist Frankie Beverly

and Maze. She enjoyed listening to musical artist like Tyrone Davis, Bebe King and Bobby Bland, Millie

Jackson, and Marvin Gay. Samantha recently took an interest in sports and loved the Houston Astros.

She shared a close bond with her mother and never missed a day to visit and spend quality time with her.

She enjoyed cooking and was known for her gumbo and famous banana pudding recipe that she

graciously blessed her nieces with. Samantha was obsessed with the ID Channel and sending her nieces

and nephews dad jokes. She enjoyed her shopping and dining sister’s outings with Dorothy and Linda.

Her favorite past time hobby was shopping . She had a love for handbags. Sam had a giving heart and

generously gave to local organizations. She shared many precious moments with her favorite

cousin/sister Tina from birth until her death and she had her own special relationship with each niece

and nephew.

Samantha leaves to cherish her memory loving husband Haywood Richards, mother Flora Peters,

mother-in-law Jeraldine Marion- Young, sisters Dorothy Mitchell and Linda Freeman, sister-in-law

Marilyn (Candy)Richards, sister-in-law Sylvia Foreman (Lee), brother-in-law Ravenia Young Jr. (Sabrina).

nieces and nephews Renitia, Kyna, Darion, Aisha, Kendrick, Dekendra, Jaz, Amber, Heather, Ravenia

(Nina) great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces, Godchildren Amber, Jaylon, Kaylon, and Zoey, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in her death by her father Aaron Lawson, grandmother, Dorothy Smith, father-in-law

Ravenia Young, Sr., great-nephew Isaiah Jones, and furbabies Naomi and Pepper
