Samantha Ashley Egger Whetzel

Samantha, daughter of Toye Bird and Kenneth Egger, is a 2010 graduate of Waltrip High School. Shortly after graduation on September 3, 2010, Samantha married Sgt. Jesse Whetzel, who is stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas.

The accident occurred late Sunday night when Jesse and Samantha were en route to begin their new life together in Killeen, Texas. Samantha will be remembered as a new and loving bride to her husband, Jesse, a beloved daughter, a great big sister fondly known as “Sissy”, and a good friend to many, young and old.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse, her mother and her best friend, Toye Bird, her father, Kenneth Egger, brother, Gary Egger, sister, Crissy Bird, baby sister, Chyann Bird, step-father, Ricky Bird, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home on October 21, from 4 to 6 pm. The funeral service will begin at 6 pm. The burial will be October 22 at 9 am at Houston National Cemetery with Rev. Leslie Kessler officiating.

Both families, the Eggers and the Birds, express their sincere appreciation to the many family members, friends, and neighbors who have shared their prayers and extended their support during this time of sorrow.
