San Juan Ambriz Carpio

He was born in Houston, Texas on January 31st, 1949 to Juanita Ambriz and Domingo Carpio. A Specialist 4th Class, with C Company, 3rd Battalion (Airmobile), 506th Infantry, Juan served in the 101st Airborne Division where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal. He was a Sharpshooter with the M-14 and an Expert with the M-16 rifles.

He was a Certified Welder and Welding Inspector for over 35 years. Juan Carpio accepted Christ in 1978. His faith journey lead him to Trinity Baptist Church and Houston's First Baptist Church for 26 plus years in service to our LORD in the areas of Benevolence, Youth and Children's Ministries. His final membership was attending Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas since 2007.

Our father was an amazing individual with a huge heart and passionate love for Jesus Christ. His heart's desire was for all of his family and friends to come to the knowledge of Salvation. His concern before leaving earth for his loved ones was to be sure they knew where they would spend eternity. Even in his transition, his heart was turned toward Heaven and his faith focused on the face of God.

As the head of our family, he always displayed a poise and grace which demanded the most earnest respect. He never raised his voice, he always shared his wisdom and he always loved to laugh. The Lord used his laughter to soothe our soul and turn our tears from sorrow to joy. We will forever be better individuals because of who he was. The LORD blessed us above what we could ever have asked, thought or imagined when He gave us a husband, a brother, a father, an uncle, a grandfather and a friend.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of fifty years, Lidia Olga Carpio, four children Dolores, Adam, Tony (wife Deanna) and Raquel; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, nine great, great grandchildren and two brothers and two sisters with numerous dearly loved nieces and nephews. His favorite verse was Joshua 1:9. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

A visitation for San Juan will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
