Sandra Darlene Braddy

Born and raised in Houston, Sandy built a life centered on family, creativity, laughter, and love. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1981, she married Ricky Gene Braddy. Together, Sandy and Rick shared more than 45 years of marriage, raised their family, and made homes in Houston, Cypress, Crockett, South Florida, and along the shores of Houston County Lake.

Sandy was the proud mother of Matthew Gene Braddy and his wife, Melanie Lynn Braddy; Amanda Gayle Braddy; and Miranda Leigh Braddy and her husband, Sven Gabler. She was a loving grandmother to Mikael Gene Braddy, Meghan Lynn Braddy, Isabella Resch, Nathan Byrum, and Levi Byrum, and stepmom to Heather Nicole Byrum. She is also survived by her brother, Dan Arthur Sullivan, and a sprawling extended family of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Athel Arthur Sullivan and Mary Evelyn Barrett Sullivan, and her brother, James Vick Sullivan.

Sandy spent much of her life supporting the people she loved, volunteering in her children’s activities and giving her time generously to family and community.

But to know Sandy was to know that she was a maker. She quilted. She crafted. She cooked. She sang. And sometimes she simply made up the songs herself—especially when the doggies needed one.

Her sewing room was her sanctuary, filled with fabric, thread, color, and possibility. She took great pride in her quilts and loved anything that sparkled. She had a special fondness for peacocks, pink flamingos, cardinals, and butterflies, and she treasured Thanksgiving, Christmas, good food, family gatherings, and the places where memories were made.

Sandy had a joyful laugh, a sweet sense of humor, and a warmth that could bring light into difficult moments. Her family will remember her quilts, her songs, her sparkle, her laughter, and the countless pieces of herself she stitched into the lives of those she loved.

She was Sandy to many. She was Pud and Puddin to those who knew her longest. And to her children, she was simply Mom.

She will be loved and missed beyond measure.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Cr, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095, US, on September 25, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
