Sandra Ann Brown, 83, of Houston, Texas passed away on July 25, 2022. She was born in Houston, Texas on November 18, 1938, to Harry A. Dunn and Wilma Lee Grant. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Buran Brown, her parents, brothers, H. A., and Earnest, and sister Patricia. She is survived by her daughters, Lana Mazzo and her husband, Tony, of Cresson, Texas, and Heather Gilliam and her husband, Joshua, of Waco, Texas. She cherished her two grandchildren, Luke and Madison Gilliam of Waco, Texas, and loved her nephews, Christopher and Matthew Maberry, of Houston, Texas. Sandy came from humble beginnings and began working at an early age to help support her family.
Following high school, she went on to complete business school and then worked for various companies including the Rice Hotel, Litton Industries, and Western Geophysical where she worked as a payroll manager, and met her husband, Buran. Sandy was creative and had the ability to see potential in almost anything, often making beautiful art and crafts out of the most unique components. She was strong, determined, confident, and independent; she loved new adventures, loved to learn, and loved to cheer on her Astros! As an active member in the Silver Sneakers program at her local YMCA, she enjoyed attending group exercise classes, meeting new friends, and looked forward to monthly potlucks. Sandy also loved spending time in her vegetable garden and tending to her plants, but her passion and gift was creating fellowship through food and recipes and cooking meals to be shared with family and friends. She loves the Lord and her family deeply and taught us all how to better love and care for others through her example and God’s Word.
Sandy will greatly be missed by her family and friends, but we know that she is rejoicing in Heaven and celebrating her homecoming alongside Jesus and her loved ones that have gone before.
A funeral service for Sandra will be held Friday, August 5, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, followed by a committal service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
