Sandy graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School then later married the love of her life, James V. “Jim” Descant, Jr., on May 27, 1966. Sandy was a secretary at the family business, Building Specialties, Inc., where she worked alongside her husband. Sandy and Jim loved traveling together and would often go on road trips throughout the United States. Whether that was touring national landmarks, taking in the beauty of fall foliage in the northeast, or stopping by Las Vegas for a bit of gambling. Sandy was a talented artist and loved painting anything and everything, especially landscapes, florals, and portraits. She loved her family dearly and was always there for people with an open hand. She was known for throwing the best parties, including showers and birthday parties for her loved ones and friends. She embraced a motherly role to her niece and nephew, Laurie and Kevin, and to their children as well. She taught the grandkids the important things in life, like how to play poker, using creativity through art, dancing to Michael Jackson, and decorating for Christmas.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters-in-law Charlene Wiggins Pasket and Shirley Descant Klotz, and brother-in-law Barnard Klotz. She is survived by her sister, Jackie Kujawa and husband Steve Kujawa, brothers-in-law Douglas Descant and wife Frances, Ray Trimble and wife Sharon and Frank Pasket, sisters-in-law Tavia Messana Mitchell, Joanie Lane, Jan Cheek Ballard and husband Keith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
