Sandra G. Martinez, 67, of Houston Texas by way of the Rio Grande Valley, passed away August 1, 2019, at home with her family. In God’s good grace, with dancing boots on, and a yellow rose in her hair, Sandra joined her mother and passed loved ones in eternal peace and happiness.
She was born to Jesus N. Garcia and the late Carolina Guevara Garcia, Jul. 11, 1952, in Pecos Texas. Sandra attended Harlingen High School and graduated from Palm Springs High in 1971. She received her nursing license from Harlingen Valley Baptist Medical Center 1979, an accomplishment and occupation of immense pride and purpose to her. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Sandra brought comfort and aid to those in need—an earthbound and caring, angel of mercy amongst us.
Sandra married Roel “Roy” G. Martinez on October 21, 1970 and shared a marriage together for 25 years. She lives on, within her three children: Erika M. Perez, Roel Gabriel Martinez, and Israel Martinez. She is also survived by her grandchildren Andrew, Alyssa, Jacob and Matthew (with more on the way-from Roel Gabriel ) and her ever loyal pet companion, Lady.
Sandra was many things, but conventional she was not. She made plans for her passing years ago and wanted no wake or viewing; but instead that the tender and most cherished memories we have of her remain our lasting remembrances. Sandra wanted us to celebrate her life by gathering with friends and family; to eat, to laugh, to cry and to love together—and that's exactly what we did. On August 2, those she loved and whom loved her, came together at Sandra’s home, to reminisce and remember her. There were sad moments, but mostly joy and happiness; music and food, old relatives talking and young children playing, until very late in the night. We made her proud that day and felt her love from above. May God accept Sandra with open arms, and we will see her again in heaven up above.
