OBITUARY

Sarah Frances Burris

September 25, 1945April 23, 2020

Sarah Frances Burris, age 74, of Houston, Texas, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2020. She was born to Julia Carolyn Williams and Charles “Charlie” Williams, Jr., on September 25, 1945. Sarah attended Reagan High School, graduating in January 1964. She was an active class member of the National Honor Society, Red Coats, as well as senior class Secretary. Admired by many, Sarah was an energetic cheerleader, voted football sweetheart, runner-up most beautiful, and most popular. After high school, she attended University of Texas her freshman year, and then transferred to University of Houston, where she became a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Her Cougar pride and spirit awarded her the nomination of Golf Queen for the UH’s golf team. In 1968, Sarah graduated earning a degree in Marketing and eventually went onto a long-term career with AIM Management Group, Inc. as their only legal supervisor without a law degree. Family and friends were Sarah’s passion and delight. As a loving mother and homemaker, Sarah was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her loved ones. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated Houston Cougar sports fan, a love which began with her former husband, Bo Burris. She loved the outdoors and often traveled to Kerrville. Some of her most memorable past-times were spent fishing in Rockport, camping in Garner/Concan, and annual visits to Lake McQueeney. One of Sarah’s greatest joys was being a grandmother, “G”, to her two grandsons. Sarah is survived by her two children, Jeb Burris and Ashley Burris Kirksey, grandsons, Jack and Bo Kirksey; survived by her brother Scott Williams and his wife Kendra; her sister Maureen Turner and her husband Clarence, and a number of other loving relatives and close friends. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her last days. A private memorial service celebrating her life will be held on a date to be further determined and announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Houston Area Parkinson Society (HAPS) www.hapsonline.org

I have many fond memories of Sarah - days as young girls during elementary school and the fun times we had. High school memories of her sweetness and kindness to everyone. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I know she will be smiling her lovely smile up in heaven but surely missed here.
