

Scott Holtzhouser, born on September 17, 1964, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at the age of 60 in Houston, Texas with his family by his side. A proud graduate of Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Missouri, Scott's early life was marked by his passion for athletics, particularly soccer and hockey.
Scott had a successful hockey career, including a stint with the Montreal Canadiens and continued play in the International Hockey League. His athletic pursuits were accompanied by a strong sense of duty, which led him to join the military. During his time in the U.S. Marine Corps, Scott served as a baker, where he discovered his profound interest in culinary arts.
Pursuing this passion, Scott earned a degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He went on to establish several successful restaurants in the area, showcasing his culinary talent and entrepreneurial spirit. Notably, Scott was nominated for a prestigious James Beard Award for his restaurant, "The Haymaker," where he had the honor of serving numerous celebrities. Additionally, he was a chef at the induction ceremony for President Bill Clinton's library in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A dedicated professional, Scott’s work ethic was unmatched, and he poured his heart and soul into his culinary endeavors. Outside of his career, he found great joy in spending time with his daughter. He cherished the time spent with his daughter, Katarina. His love for adventure was reflected in the diverse activities they enjoyed together, from golfing to downhill skiing to surfing. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Julianna, and their daughter, Katarina. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Holtzhouser, and wife, Lynn; sister, Stephanie Doran; sister-in-law, Kristine Zander; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Newel Eugene “Gene” Holtzhouser; his mother, Martha Ann (Dames) Barrios; and his stepfather, Miguel Barrios.
Scott fought bravely over the last 18 months, demonstrating incredible strength and resilience. He has now found peace and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Scott wishes to be buried at Memorial Oaks funeral home & cemetery. Memorial service is pending, and will be scheduled for a later date.
