Sharon "Lynn" Thompson left this world on March 10, 2025, from Houston, Texas, no doubt heading straight for the best seat at the eternal dinner table—where she’s probably already rearranging the décor. She was 73 years young in spirit and wit.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on September 1, 1951, to George R. Thompson Sr. and Barbara Bailey Thompson, Lynn was a proud Louisianan with a deep love for good food, good friends, and a well-set holiday table.
In 1961, Lynn made the most important decision of her life—placing her faith in Jesus Christ and accepting God’s grace. She was baptized that same year, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith that shaped her relationships, values, and the way she loved others.
Lynn attended Broadmoor High School and Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority. She later earned her MBA from Southern Methodist University. A sharp businesswoman, she thrived in high-tech sales, managing teams and making lifelong friends along the way.
But there was far more to Lynn than her career. She was an artist, a musician, a storyteller, and the kind of friend who would remember your favorite dessert and surprise you with it months later. Her quick wit and humor could light up any room, and her hospitality made every holiday or dinner party feel like a grand event. She spent much of her life caring for others, including her beloved parents, and in return, she was loved deeply by many.
Lynn was welcomed into heaven by her parents, George and Barbara Thompson. She leaves behind her brother Randy Thompson and sister-in-law Maggie, as well as a large extended family and a wealth of friends who will forever cherish her laugh, her kindness, and the way she made every moment special.
In honor of Lynn, set the table a little nicer tonight, play some music, and enjoy a good meal with people you love—she would have wanted it that way.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:8-10
