Shirley Rae Barnette

Shirley Rae Barnette, 87 of Kingwood, TX., passed away on November 8, 2023, eight days shy of her 88th birthday. She was born in Mountain View, GA. on November 16, 1935 to parents, Ruby & Therian Roberts.

Shirley graduated from Forest Park High School where she met Morris Barnette and married him on August 6, 1955. They had two sons, Ronnie and Randy. Shirley worked as a secretary at ST’s Heating & Air Conditioning out of high school, until she transitioned to being an administrative assistant to the station manager at Delta Airlines in 1974. She retired from Delta in 1994 after 20 years of service. Since retiring from Delta Airlines, Shirley was volunteering at Mission Northeast helping to sort clothing donations. She was a member of 2nd Baptist Church North Campus and she had a passion for reading, watching Hallmark movies with Morris and keeping up with her three grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Morris Barnette. Her parents, Ruby & Therian Roberts; brother, Richard Roberts; brothers-in-law J.D. Cravey and William Raymond Barnette, and sister-in-law, Darlene Barnette.

She is survived by her sons, Ronnie L. Barnette of Kingwood and Randy & wife Melissa Barnette of Liberty, TX; three grandchildren, Brady L. Barnette of Liberty, TX., Mark & wife Autumn Barnette of Anahuac, TX., Molly Barnette of Beaumont, TX.; sisters-in-law, Betty Roberts of Cummings, GA., Carole Cravey of Palmetto, GA., Janie Barnette of Clifton Forge, VA.; brother-in-law, Leslie & wife Tammy Barnette of Robertsdale, AL. as well as many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A committal service will occur Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Rosewood Memorial Park, 2602 S Houston Ave, Humble, Texas 77396.

Serving as pallbearers are Randy Barnette, Brady Barnette, Molly Barnette, Douglas George, Clifton George, Ronnie Barnette, Mark Barnette, Phillip George and Roger George.
