When I think of Ms. Shirley, I smile. I was a neighbor and was blessed to have spent several after school and summer days at her home, hanging out with Sianee, Michell, Karen, and Beniqua! It was never a dull moment there. I learned how to apply make-up, lip sync and dance to Michael Jackson, learned math from my math tutor (Sianee), cooked...man, I can go on and on and on! I loved the spirit of family in the Declues household and it all started with Ms. Shirley. High spirited and full of life! I'm just realizing that she was the very first African-American business woman that I ever knew personally. Built a convenience store right on her own property, complete with Pac-Man and Centipede arcade machines inside. I took a lot of quarters to that store, trying to beat that high score. (LOL) Ms. Shirley will be missed, but her legacy and love will forever live through her children and her grandchildren. Hang in their, family. Keeping you lifted in prayer.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Ms. Shirley. I too share so many memories. Ms. Shirley loved to cook. One of my favorite meal was her delicious gumbo. She can make that gumbo. I had the opportunity to eat many bowls at her house. She would tell Ann to tell Carol I made gumbo....Lol. I dropped everything to get a bowl of that gumbo. Another old memory is playing dominios. I tried my best for years to beat her but couldn't. It was all in fun. I will always cherish those memories. Praying for peace and comfort for the family. Ms. Shirley, rest in heaven.

Funny, charming, loving, caring, nurturing and upfront are just a few ways to describe my mom. She brought people together with food and music. When we were kids, our house was the place to be. So much love and joy filled our home. Many cherished memories to reflect on and we look forward to the promises of Jehovah by Christ Jesus. John 5:28, 29 Acts 24:15 Rev 20:12,13
