Houston – Shirley A Gardner passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022. She was one of 2 children born in Pittsburgh, Pa. She met Al Gardner at Westview Dance Hall in Pittsburgh back in 1956 while working at Fidelity and Casualty Insurance Company. They were married in May of 1957, lived in many cities before finally landing in Houston, Texas in 1968. Shirley was a stay at home mother until taking a job in Alief ISD, where she worked as a teacher’s assistant in the early childhood development program. Once retired, she and Al moved from Alief to the Katy area in 1997 traveled extensively enjoying life to the fullest. Their marriage flourished for 65 years. Shirley suffered from Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease for the last 10 years until her passing but despite this, her warm smile and friendly greeting always made others feel happy.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Father – Anthony Mittermier, Mother – Willahemina Mittermier: Her Survivors: Husband: Al Gardner, Sister Patricia Happoldt, Children: Karen and her husband Dan, Albert and his wife Lynda, Grandsons – Brad and his wife Merritt, Chad and Kyle. Granddaughter - Lisa. Great Grandchildren – Hunter, Kori and Callan.
