

Shirley Hosea, the second of three children, was born to Lenard McLean and Nettie Hayes on May 3, 1944, in Houston, Texas.
Shirley received her early education in Houston and was a proud graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School. After high school, she furthered her education at Prairie View A&M University, where she earned her degree. She went on to build a meaningful career in healthcare, working as a Radiology Technician at Methodist Hospital, where she served patients with compassion, professionalism, and dedication.
On September 27, 1966, Shirley conceived her son, Lenard Redd, whom she loved deeply and cared for with unwavering devotion.
On October 30, 1975, Shirley was united in marriage to Thomas Hosea, Jr. Their marriage spanned 49 years, a testament to their enduring love, commitment, and partnership. In 1997, Shirley and Thomas co-founded T & S Trucking Company in California, building a successful family business through hard work and determination. In 2006, they relocated their family back to Houston, Texas, where Shirley continued to nurture her home, family, and community.
Shirley was a woman of faith and fellowship. She was a devoted member of Silverlake Church and enjoyed fellowship and community through the Tom Bass Line Dance group. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caretaker whose kindness, strength, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her life reflected grace, faith, and service.
Shirley Hosea was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Thomas Hosea, Jr., who passed on January 3, 2024.
Shirley transitioned peacefully on December 2, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Lenard Redd; her brothers, Leon McLean and Douglas Ray McLean; and her seven grandchildren, Ryan Redd, Geneva Redd, Leon Redd, Aijalon Lanea Redd, Ky Mary Redd, Zaire Redd, and Xavier Redd, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Her legacy of love, faith, and service will forever
remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
