

Shirley Ann James was a woman of strength, devotion, and deep love for her family. On December 11, 2025, she peacefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and unwavering care for those she loved.
Born on January 9, 1951, Shirley lived a life defined by service and determination. She dedicated many years of faithful service to the City of Houston as a truck driver, a role she carried out with pride and diligence until her retirement. Her strong work ethic, resilience, and commitment were evident in all she did.
Shirley was a devoted and faithful member of Mt Zion Baptist Church, where she served honorably under the leadership of Rev. Clifford Davis. Her faith was not only spoken but lived daily through kindness, perseverance, and love for others.
Family was the heart of Shirley’s life. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Romeka Davis; her cherished granddaughter, Angel Davis; her goddaughter, Sherika Williams; and her god-grandson, Maria Williams her godson Samuel McDaniel and her great god-granddaughter LaLa and her dog Butter!!!
She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Mary Davis, Katie Warner and Sonia Randle. Her brother Arthur Sudduth, and brother-in-law Redell Davis. Shirey also has her sisters Crystal Faye Thomas, Marion Ann Marks, and Benny Prentice (husband Michael); brothers Terry Lynn Thomas, Russell Spikes Jr., and Michael Wayne
Davis (wife Binnie ) Shirley, invited her sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Francis Medard, and they accepted with no term date, to be and they were. Her appointed by her to be her brother Larry Wayne Hines.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pauline Sudduth; her brother Robert Lee Sudduth; her sisters Daisy Reagan, Jewel Sharlett, and Gracie Sudduth and her beloved “Daddy,” Russell Spikes Sr. Shirley Ann James, will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her tireless dedication, and the deep love she poured into her family and community.
