Shirley Beatrice Preston went to be with her Lord on November 8, 2017. She was born on June 16, 1935 in Houston, Texas to parents Ida Beatrice and Ernest Thadius Knopp. Shirley was a bookkeeper for Weingarten for 35 years, after which she worked at Neil and Yaminni Patel’s pharmacy chain for 26 years. She loved to collect antiques and reading her entire life. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 55 years, Francis Preston; granddaughter, Kristen Standley; and sister, Beverly Brown. She is survived by her two daughters, Shelley Pelley, Sharon Chritos; three step daughters, Diane Brandon,Cathy Schilling, Becky Hensel; two grandchildren, Garrett Wilson and wife Kaylen, J.L. Holubec II and wife Ashley; five great grandchildren, Payton Standley, Layne Standley, Jaydynn Holubec, James Lee Holubec III, Ashley Wilson; as well as many friends and other family members.
The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home; with a graveside service at 1:30 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
