Sidney Leon Pomonis, 62, passed away June 14, 2010 after a short, but courageous battle following cancer surgery. Above all else, he lived his dream as he traveled the roads and played bass for Mickey Gilley in The Urban Cowboy Band for 15 years. In 1980 he won a Grammy for his bass performance in "Orange Blossom Special Hoedown.: He was currently employed at ITT Industries as an engineering specialist. Sid was a humble, quiet and compassionate man. He is preceded in death by his father, C.J. Pomonis and adored niece Joy Castro. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 18 years, Kathi; mother, Elsie Pomonis; sons: Sid Jr. and Jason; daughters: Terry, Cheryl and Heather; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; 14 grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16th from 5-8PM at Brookside Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday, June 17th at 3:00PM at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
