Dr. Chiu was born in the city of Tianzhong, Taiwan on January 2, 1928, attended medical school in Taiwan, came to the United States in the 1950’s to complete her medical training, and then began her long, dedicated career as a successful OB-GYN specialist in Houston in the mid 1960’s, until her retirement in 1993.
Dr. Chiu loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and along with her late husband, Wen Jung Chiu, helped found the Formosan Presbyterian Church in Houston. Her favorite hobby was Ballroom Dancing which she pursued for many years, winning many awards and trophies as a testament to her skill, beauty and grace on the dance floor.
Dr. Chiu was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wen Jung Chiu. She is survived by her children, Mark (Juanita), Peter and James (Susan); her grandchildren, Jason (Bri) and Courtney (Jack); and her extended family and friends, who will all miss her dearly, but rejoice that she is now in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Chiu Family would like to give a very special thanks to Cynthia Ashley, who was a friend, companion and caretaker for many years, and also to the staff of The Buckingham Assisted Living Facility who took great care of her as she approached the end of her blessed long life.
