Sonya Le'Priest Jolly

On August 21, 1961 Sonya was born to Curtis and Rosie Clark (nee Brown). She was the third of six children from this union. Sonya was always big on education which was evident early at Wheatley High School and it was that passion that led her to Prairie View A&M University to pursue a bachelor’s degree and Teaching Certification where she made lifelong friendships. She would later return to her alma mater to complete her master’s in education administration.

Sonya enjoyed cards, dominos, a good party and she enjoyed laughing. She had a smile that could literally light up a room, she loved being a teacher and the many students that sat in her classroom continuously demanding that they learned the material not just memorize it. Sonya was a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, but above all she loved her family and friends ferociously. She possessed a strong love for anyone and everyone who loved her, quick to give the shirt off her back with a kindness based in her faith in God.

Sonya was preceded in death by her brother Curtis Jr and her mother Rosie. Sonya transitioned to eternal rest on March 5, 2024 and left behind to celebrate her homegoing is her husband of 30 years Wendell, daughters Edwina (Jeffrey) and Victoria, step-children Wendell Jr (Lisa) and Kim, grandchildren Colby, Alyssa, Kaitlyn, Lalaina, Deairra, Ava, Teona and Marquael, her four sisters as well as numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. Sonya will be missed more than words can ever express.

A memorial services will be held for Sonya on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 4pm at Heart of Faith Church located at 12275 Homestead Rd. Houston Texas 77050
