My deepest condolences to the Mayionos family. I knew Spiro through his business, and met him when I worked at Kinder Morgan in Galena Park, as the Vessel Expeditor. I'll never forget the man. He was passionate and aggressive about his business and about life, and he tried not to let "rules" stop him or even slow him down much. He always expressed much love for his family, which definitely included the guys that worked with him.

Rest in piece Spiro, my friend......your work here is done.

I started my Company in 1974 and by 1977, I hired Spiro as a sales rep. A few months later, the 1976 Malibu car he used was totaled. He went to a ship at the city docks 14 as ship just arrived. It was a Greek flag vessel and he drove on the dock near the ship. When he boarded the ship, was not cleared by the port customs so he was told to leave. The crew was Spanish speaking and I think he got mad so when he left the dock, he didn't noticed that he was on a loading ramp which is about 4 feet high. The crew said that he made a right turn onto the loading dock and went flying off the dock and landed on the front and smashed the car . When he got to the office on Navigation st., car was smoking from under the hood. The car was in a v shape with the center almost scraping the pavement . Asked him what happened and he said that when he came off the ship, the car was like that and that a seaman must have taken it for a ride. I went on board and the whole crew was still laughing at
happened and thats what I was told. I fired him. Later on, he became a competitor and became
friends. R.I.P. my friend. I am now retired, well almost.
