CHARLES PEGG of Houston, Texas, age 87, retired United States Marine and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015. He was born in Ellinger, Texas on September 6, 1927 to Esther Meyer and Emory Pegg.
Charles was a dedicated life-long Marine, who served honorably 19 years, 6 months, and 13 days active military service. He is a World War II, Korean and Vietnam War veteran. After retiring from the military on June 3rd of 1964, he worked as a Machinist in Houston and Texas City for many years. In his retirement, he enjoyed giving back to the community by volunteering his time and effort to helping his fellow Veterans. Charles’ love for his country and his many years of service and devotion are a testament to the legacy he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife of 65 wonderful years, Mercedes Edery Pegg, two sons, Charles E. Pegg, Jr and his wife Iris Dorsey, Leon E. Pegg and his wife Mercedes Arocha Pegg, and granddaughter, Christine Pegg and her husband James "Opie" Steagall. He is also survived by his sister Letitia McWilliams of Quitman, Texas.
