Stanley Rajan

Mr. Stanley Rajan was born to Chacko P. Chacko and Saramma Paul on May 27, 1943 in Tiruvalla, Kerala. The youngest of their four boys, his primary schooling was split between time in Tiruvalla and Thiruvananthapuram. He excelled at sports, particularly football and pole vault. He attended NSS College Pandalam where he earned two Bachelor’s degrees (Finance and International History) and two Master’s degrees (also in Finance and International History). He was active in sports throughout his education and was the first Christian Football Captain at NSS College Pandalam; his pole vault records remained unbroken for over 30 years.

After graduating, his first job was teaching English in Tutorial College in Tiruvalla. He then worked for the Kerala Government Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram. Stanley married Omana Samuel on April 15, 1971 in CSI Church Mooledom. Stanley was an avid motorcycle rider and would regularly take long rides on his Royal Enfield Bullet with his new bride, including rides from Tiruvanandapuram to Tiruvalla (8 hours round trip!).

Stanley came to the US in July 1973 and settled down in Summit, New Jersey. He transitioned into banking and stayed in the industry until he retired. While in New Jersey he was very active in the Tri-State Malayalee community. His two children, Teesha and Tom, were born in New Jersey. In 1980 the family moved to Sugar Land, Texas, where Stanley continued to be very active in the Malayalee Community, including being a Founding Member and Secretary of the Kerala Cultural Association; he was also the Secretary and Sports Chair for the Malayalee Association of Greater Houston; as well as a member of the World Malayalee Council.

Stanley was very active in his church and served as the secretary of Emmanuel CSI Church of Houston for eight years; after the church dissolved, he became a member of St. Thomas CSI Church.

Stanley Rajan is survived by his wife Omana, daughter Teesha, son Tom, daughter-in-law Esra, and the love of his life, his grandson Micah.
