

Stanley "Stan" Dwayne Sanders, Jr., 34, was surrounded by his family when he passed away at his home on Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Houston, TX. Stan was born March 6, 1979 in Stillwater, OK and grew up in Katy, TX.
Stan graduated from Katy High School in 1997 in Katy, TX and received his Bachelor's degree in business and finance from Sam Houston State University in 2005 at Huntsville, TX. Stan was married to Audrey Brooke Chandler on October 1, 2011. Although he had a business degree, Stan's passion and raw talent for cooking brought him to a career as a chef for Morrison Management Specialties at Patients Medical Center in Pasadena, TX. When Stan wasn't in the kitchen, he was cheering on his favorite sports teams, the Houston Texans and the Oklahoma Sooners. Stan had a quick wit and could have an entire room laughing with one of his jokes. Stan's smile and spirit were infectious, even through battling colorectal cancer in 2008 and 2011.
Stan is survived by his wife, Audrey; his parents, Stanley and Brenda of Fulshear, TX; his sister Wendi Phelps and her husband, Trey and daughter, Ella of Katy, TX; his grandparents, Lavena Madden, and Stanley and Patty Sanders, all of Ada, OK; his parents-in-law, Rich and Isabel Chandler of Richmond, TX, brother-in-law, Adam Chandler, and sisters-in-law, Natalie Chandler and Erin Linton and her husband, Jason and their son, Lucas of Missouri City, TX; Audrey's grandparents, Nick and Cristina Lopez of Houston, TX; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Texas and Oklahoma.
The family would like to personally thank the doctors, nurses and staff at MD Anderson for their knowledge, respect, unconditional kindness and exceptional care for Stan, especially Drs. Cathy Eng and John Skibber and their staff at the Gastrointestinal Clinic; and Drs. Marvin Delgado-Guay and Maxine De La Cruz and their staff at the Supportive Care Center and all of the staff at the Andreas Beck Inpatient Palliative Care Unit; along with all of the doctors, nurses and staff at Houston Hospice.
Arrangements for celebrating Stan's life begins with visitation on Thursday, April 25, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home,13001 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX 77079, followed by a funeral mass on Friday, April 26 at 10:00 am at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5356 11th Street, Katy, TX 77493. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Stan Sanders to CanCare "Fighting Cancer with Hope" at 9575 Katy Freeway, Suite 428, Houston, TX 77024.
