Stella Chambers

"Stella" Nash Chambers joined her loved ones with our Lord on Monday, October 2, 2023. She was born April 22, 1931, in Palmetto, LA to Eula (Simon) Nash and Linton Nash. She was the 9th of 10 children. Stella graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in LeBeau, Louisiana. There, she met her husband of 65 years, Philip Chambers Jr. Stella moved to Houston, Tx with her siblings and later married Philip at St. Anne de Beaupre Church. To this union children were born: Glen, David, Lori, Lisa, Duana and Katrina. Philip and Stella were original members the Knights of Peter Claver ladies Auxiliary Court 151. She was also a member of the Alta Society, and a member of the Legion of Mary. Stella worked tirelessly at church fundraisers and functions and was known for baking and serving her delicious pound cakes.

"Stella" loved her family deeply and was always available to anyone who needed an ear, friendly words of advice, comfort, or courage. She known for her infectious smile and gentle ways. She loved children and wa happiest when there was a baby on her lap. As a native of Louisiana, Stella enjoyed her Creole culture. Good food and a Zydeco song always pepped her up. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she instilled the value the value of education in all of her children and required a college education at minimum. Stella was a very civic minded. Throughout her adult life she worked in the Acres Home community with voter registration, and as an election poll worker. Stella also worked with community leaders in Acres Home Civic organization to get paved streets, a health center, civic centers and manf the public services enjoyed today in the Acres Homes communities.

Consistent with her value for education, after retiring from AT&T, Stella went back to school where she earned her Medical Tech certification and worked at Yale Hospital s an EKG Tech and Phlebotomist.

An avid traveler both domestic and internationally. Stella traveled across the US and attended nearly all of those famous Nash Family reunions - usually with grandkids in tow. She also enjoyed a few cruises and visited Lourdes, France; Mexico; and Israel. Her favorite adventure was to the Holy Land.

Stella aws preceded in death by her parents, Her husband Philip, 5 brothers; Charles, Elson, Leon, Leroy and Cleveland and 4 sister; Bertha, Ruby, Gladys and Alice, her oldest son Glenn and granddaughter Madeleine Walasek. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lucille Chambers Bernard, and her children Toxie Chambers (Glenn), Deacon David Chambers DDS (Tujuana), The Hon. Jude Lori Chambers Gray (Johnny), Lisa Chambers Krause (Claude), Duana Chambers Barnes (Erik), Katrina Chambers Norman (Joseph) and grandchildren Dr. Glenn Chambers (Dr Terah) Samaria Chambers Wyatt (TJ) Caire Chambers Humphrey (Larry), Eugene Murray (Rachel), Hannah Chambers, Johnny Gray (Rosemary), Loren Gray (Jeremy), Michelle Arceneaux, Claude Krause Jr, Ricky Nicholas Jr. (Hillary), Danielle Krause, Christopher Krause, Chaun Krause; Chelsea Hill, Alexandria Hill, Miguel Reyes, Aaron Gertner, Jacek Walasek, Gabrielle Norman. A host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A visitation for Stella will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church, 8421 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088. A rosary will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 10:50 AM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. The committal will at Paradise North Cemetery, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
