Obituary of Stella Josephine Hooker
When Stella was born, her parents were sure the baby was going to be a boy, and they had not even picked a girl’s name. After seeing her and holding her, they chose the name Stella. If ever a name fit, Stella suited her perfectly. Stella has always been beautiful, loving, fearless, physically strong, (and strong-willed!), incredibly intelligent and exasperating in the most wonderful way. Her smile was infectious, and her gorgeous round brown eyes could melt your heart in a second while shooting daggers the next. She was witty and had the best dark sense of humor. Stella attended St. Rose of Lima pre-school, Oak Forest Elementary and Frank Black Middle School in Houston, where she was born. She loved and enjoyed so many different things - reading all kinds of books, building LEGO sets and other things, Anime, drawing/sketching, baking cookies, collecting notebooks, playing outside and with all kinds of animals, especially the family dog Dexter. She loved making lists and had so many - what movies to watch, books to read, places to go, and things to do. Her favorite things to eat were corn, refrigerated honey crisp apples, Cheez-Its and Ramen. She had a deep distaste for regular water, only wanting to drink Propel or flavored water, but could drink a half gallon of milk in one day. Stella was very fortunate traveling to many places with each of her parents and sister. Memorable trips included California, Arizona, Wyoming, Grand Canyon, Belize, Egypt, Iceland, New York, Canada and many more. Her favorite place is Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She truly never said an ill word about anyone, did not get in trouble at school or home, and she wanted to learn to play the violin. Stella adored and loved her sister Sophie, her friends and all of her family. Stella is survived by her parents Rachel Lloyd and Shawn Hooker; grandparents Joseph S. (Stan) Lloyd, Sandy J. Lloyd, Linda Botcho, Linda Hooker, and sister Sophie M. Hooker. Her other Texas family members include Matthew Lloyd (uncle), Melissa Calderon Lloyd (aunt-in law), Rumi Lloyd (cousin), Sandra (Cookie) Lloyd (great aunt), Darrell Lloyd (uncle), Denise Meschwitz Lloyd (aunt in law), Colston Lloyd (cousin), and Austin Williams (cousin). She is fortunate to have had a very large and loving family spread out across the country from Conroe to The Carolinas and Ohio. A Celebration of Life honoring Stella will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at The Bell Tower, 901 W. 34th St. from 6-9PM with the tribute to begin at 7PM. Please come comfortable and casual.
