Stella Delgado Lopez, age 75 of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. She was born to the late Domingo Delgado and Rosie Delgado on August 21, 1943.

Stella graduated from Jefferson High School before beginning her career with the Government for United States Customs. In 1963 she married Robert Lopez. The couple moved to another house in Houston where they continued to live their lives together while raising their three children, Robert R., Rosanne, and René.

Stella was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also active with volunteering in the community. Despite her hectic schedule she eventually went back to school to study Theology. She had a passion for our Lord and Savior. She spent the last 33 years of her life preaching the word of God. There was nothing more rewarding to her than the faithful preaching of the Word of God. She affected many lives with her teachings, learnings, and assisting them with spiritual guidance. She spent her latter days continuing her mission.

Stella is survived by her husband, three children, and six grandchildren, and her two brothers Roland and Thomas Delgado; and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.

The day my Mom passed I knew I wanted to be there because I didn't want her to be alone. She wasn't, she was surrounded by family and with so much love from our heavenly Father. I know she was greeted with open arms by my grandma, grandpa and her siblings. I will always have you with me Mom and there will always be memories of your love for me and my family. One day we will meet again, I ❤ you Mom.

As I mentioned during the funeral, my favorite memories are part of a set. She had an unorthodox schedule and was a night owl. Whether going to to IHOP at 5pm and then making a late night Galleria run before closing or going grocery shopping at 10pm, it was an adventure hitting the town in the evening. She definitely lived according to her own rules but always ensured that she took care of her family.

As you lay the matriarch of your family to rest, I pray that you all are overwhelmed with comfort & peace.
Stella was always so compassionate, graceful, elegant & extraordinarily nice. She never missed the opportunity to share, teach & encourage (not only myself, but my son, as well). I’m grateful to have met, engaged with & known her.
Keep her wonderful legacy alive by building upon the sturdy & beautiful foundation that she laid.

Shalom 🙏🏿

I would just like to thank her again for every memory she has left me with. She was and always will be the greatest grandma anyone could ever ask for.
I’ll keep the lessons you bestowed on me daily and use them to celebrate the life you lived.

I have many good memories of of the Delgado family. Stella was a devoted daughter and a loving mother. I remember how funny she was and her laughter. She will be missed. We have all lost someone special.

I have several memories with my grandma, but one of my absolute favorites is how every time she gets the chance, she used to educate me about religion. She would tell me things and help me become a better person and I personally believe she is a huge reason of why I am how I am today. She would sometimes spend hours telling me this stuff. And she would give me books about it too. I am so happy that she is my grandma and I wouldn’t want anyone else.

Several Christmas days had come and passed before I was finally able to meet Sarah’s infamous grandma; her first conversation with me at Christmas, much like her last at her bedside, left me with a greater wisdom going forward into my future and with the light of God shining brighter from within. She is an amazing woman who touched many lives; I am honored to have known her.

The breakfast she would make me and my many other cousins, numerous times throughout our childhood. Especially the cream of wheat and oatmeal she would make for me and serve in her famous banana bowls. 💗
