Steven Kenneth Stallings, 73, affectionately known as "Doc" by those who knew him best, left this world on June 2, 2025, in Cypress, Texas, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Born on October 15, 1951, in Fort Lewis, Washington, Steve dedicated his life to service, family, and community, leaving an indelible impact on all who crossed his path.
Raised in Washington, Steve graduated from Chelan High School in 1969 and furthered his education by becoming a proud Baylor Bear, earning his degree in 1976. A proud patriot, Steve served 23 years in the U.S. Army from 1969 until 1993, including a tour in Vietnam where he served as a combat medic. Throughout his military career, he honed his skills and deepened his commitment to helping others. In 1984, he was part of the first graduating class of the Army’s Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant training program through Baylor University. Known for his gentle nature and unwavering dedication to his family and country, Steven was a God-fearing man who was always ready to lend a helping hand.
In 1996, he married the love of his life, Beverly Jo Stallings, with whom he shared 28 beautiful years. Together, they built a loving family that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. Steve had a passion for music, medicine, and family, and was deeply involved in his community. He served as the Bremond High School football team “Doc” and was a cherished member of the St. Timothy Praise Team. His love for music took him all over Texas, playing in numerous bands for many years. He was also an avid Martin guitar fan and ultimately founded the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, which has grown to nearly 50,000 members. In addition to his musical pursuits, Steve was involved with the Bremond Chamber of Commerce and remained a devoted Baylor alumnus.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Phifer; father, Kenneth “Burlie” Stallings; stepfather, Phil Phifer; stepmother, Loretta Stallings; his sisters, Teresa Scott and Brody Matthews; and Brody’s husband, Vince Matthews.

Though he has departed from this world, Steve’s compassion, strength, and love lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and in the music he made.
