Steven Arthur Tait was born on July 4, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. His family moved to the Pecan Park area in Houston when he was four years old, and he attended church at Broadway Baptist and later Park Place Baptist. He attended Brisco Elementary and Deady Junior High in Houston. He graduated from Milby High School in 1958 and then studied engineering and business at the University of Texas. On August 27, 1960 he married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn Ferguson. They were married for 53 years.
Steve was a diligent worker. He began working at the young age of 13, and his professional career included working at Siemens Energy and Automation for 40 years. Steve retired from Siemens in 2007, but he maintained friendships with his co-workers.
Steve enjoyed woodworking, traveling and fishing in his boat. Furthermore, as an excellent cook he was well known for his cheesecake and barbeque brisket. Steve loved making cheesecakes and sharing them with his co-workers, friends and even his dentist. He was actively involved at Sugar Creek Baptist Church where he treasured working with the four year olds and growing in Christ with his Bible Fellowship class. Steve also enjoyed having coffee with the old geezer's coffee club at McDonalds and attending Community Bible Study on Thursday mornings.
Steve dearly loved all of his family, supported them throughout their lives and enjoyed spending time with them as often as life would allow. For example, he served as a scout master for several years when his sons were young and supported Carolyn in all of her musical activities.
Following a long illness, our precious husband and father went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Steve is survived by his wife, Carolyn and four children: Lisa, Glenn, Cindy and Douglas. He also left behind 13 grandchildren: Christopher, Melanie, Sarah, Shelby, Ryan, Teagan, Deacon, Darby, Hannah, Noah, Samuel, Julie and Hope, and one great grandson, Dante. His living immediate family includes his brother Mike.
A Memorial Service celebrating Steve's life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013, at 11:00 am at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, 13333 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77478.
