A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Sue lived a life filled with grace, resilience, and deep devotion to her family. She was born on August 16, 1930, in Dayton, TX, to Calvin Berton Forest and Tina O. Poston Forest.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, John C. Otto and Robert E. Fendley; her sons, John C. Otto, Jr., and Calvin James (Jim) Otto; her siblings Beverly Forest Oliver and her husband Morris Oliver, Frank Forest and his wife Dawn Forest, and her brothers-in-law Kenneth Brady and Walter Gless. Despite the many losses she endured, Sue remained a pillar of strength and warmth for those around her.
She is survived by her loving children: Susan Eileen Otto Harris (husband Wayne), Glenn David Otto, and Danita Kay Otto Stovall (husband Bryan), her daughter-in-law Nancy Whitman Otto, her grandchildren: Bryan Otto (wife Lisa), Jason Otto (wife Brandee), Chelsea Harris Nesmith (husband Matt), Zach Harris (wife Mallory), Heidi Otto, and Glenn Otto Jr. (wife Gabrielle); and her treasured great-grandchildren: Brendon Olson, Maddie Olson, Hadley Otto, Bailee Otto, Emilee Otto, Malloree Otto, Avery Nesmith, Lily Nesmith, Sydney Nesmith, Emerson Harris, Iverson Snow, and Jameson Otto.
Sue also leaves behind her loving sisters: Patsy Forest Brady, Charlotte Forest Mullins, and Peggy Forest Gless, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who brought joy to her long and vibrant life.
Following the passing of her first husband, Sue worked as a receptionist in the oil and gas industry. This was an excellent fit for her outgoing and gift of gab personality. Outside of work, she embraced life with energy and joy—traveling, dancing, and most of all, bringing her family together. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by those she loved at holidays and the annual fish and oyster fries she and Bob would host. Sue was also an avid sports fan. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren at their sporting events, and no doubt will be cheering for the Aggies and Astros from Heaven above.
A woman of wisdom, warmth, and unwavering faith, Sue leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. Her favorite blessing reflects the spirit she carried throughout her life:
“May God grant you always…. A sunbeam to warm you, a moonbeam to charm you, a sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you. Laughter to cheer you. Faithful friends near you. And whenever you pray, Heaven to hear you.”
