Susan Dang, 72, passed away on June 6, 2026. Born in Vietnam on July 20, 1953, Susan carried with her a steady courage and a deep sense of devotion that shaped a life defined by service to family and care for others. She later made her home in Houston, Texas, where she built a life rooted in perseverance, community, and enduring love.
Susan was born to her parents, Mao Van Dang and Ky Thi Nguyen, and lived in Vietnam until the end of the Vietnam War, when she moved with her family to Houston. Through every season of change, she met life with quiet strength and clear-eyed wisdom—never seeking attention, yet leaving a lasting impression through the way she showed up for the people around her.
A hardworking mother, Susan raised her children on her own, meeting responsibility with resolve and tenderness with steadiness. Her thoughtfulness was constant and practical: she was always willing to help others in need, whether through food, money, or caring for those who required support. Her generosity was not occasional—it was a way of living, offered with compassion and loyalty, and often accompanied by a gentle humor that could lighten even difficult days.
Susan found joy in cooking, fishing, gardening, and, above all, spending time with her family. Known for her green thumb, she nurtured what she planted with patience and care. She also helped raise her grandchildren, giving them the kind of presence that teaches without fanfare and loves without condition. In her neighborhood, she was known for supplying fish and seafood, and she was well known in the Asian communities—respected for her reliability, her work-driven spirit, and the sincere kindness that made people feel remembered and valued.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Phuong Dang Nguyen, Nancy Dang Nguyen, and Linda Dang Nguyen; her son, Davis Dang Nguyen; sisters, Sy Thi Dang (Deceased) , Toan Thi Dang ; brothers Vinh Van Dang, Thien Van Dang and six grandchildren, Kevin Dang Nguyen, Bryan Van Nguyen, Katie Thanh Le, Mason Dang Nguyen, Maddox Dang Nguyen, Emily Pickett and three great-grandchildren, Houston Hung Nguyen, Christopher Dang Nguyen and Scarlett Dang Nguyen. Her life will be remembered with gratitude and respect, and her legacy will live on in the family she raised, the community she strengthened, and the countless everyday acts of care that defined who she was.
A visitation will be held for Susan on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Home, 7010 Chetwood Dr. Houston, Texas 77081. A chapel service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening.
